Opie and Anthony's Traveling Virus Comedy Tour
From OAPedia.com
Opie and Anthony's Traveling Virus Comedy Tour was an annual event sponsored by Opie and Anthony, featuring standup performances from many of the comedians who have been featured on the O&A show. Other features of the tour have included a petting zoo for some of the messes who appear on the show (such as Pat from Moonachie).
O&A have also had listeners compete for spots on the tour by performing Car Crash Comedy. The most notable winners include Ed McGonigal (who later backed out) and Seaton Smith.
The tour began in 2006 with only four dates that year. It was expanded to a total of 8 for 2007. Opie had said they weren't planning on doing a tour in 2008, but they decided to do a single tour date in Holmdel, NJ on August 2. During that show, a number of fans booed Mike Birbiglia, which led O&A to declare on the following Monday, August 4, that that was the last Traveling Virus show ever. They blamed the fans for their behavior, explaining that several comedians (including Bob Saget, Jimmy Fallon, and Nick Di Paolo) did not want to do the show because of their rowdiness, and that the booing of Birbiglia sealed the tour's fate.
