Erik was given the name "Hawk" after he was instructed by Opie and Anthony to flap his wings like a hawk in front of a FOX 5 (NY) news reporter while on the air in December of 2004. The reporter was conducting a live shot of a story involving a nest of hawks that lived on a luxury apartment building on 5th Ave. in Manhattan. The residents of the building were trying to force out the hawks, and animal rights protesters stood vigil outside the building, causing a great deal of media attention.
Originally, the bit was supposed to involve Erik holding a large "Hawks are Faggots" sign in a hilarious "counter protest" to the animal rights folks, but when the news media arrived, an AOTM was called in live on the air.
In 2005, Erik won $100,000 in New York's Daily News Scratch & Match contest, which became a source of controversy when it was alleged that Erik won the prize using a ticket from a show newspaper, and not a newspaper he bought himself.
Erik is often goofed on for things like his hair, his bad breath, his weight, his lateness in coming to work, and his frequent incompetence. He once took a bet from Dr. Ian Smith that he could lose weight using Smith's Fat Smash Diet plan - Erik lost. Despite all this, O&A admit that Erik is an important part of the show and like him even though he is goofed on.
Erik is occasionally asked to do E-Rock Radio, which he hates, involving him grabbing a mic and playing listener-requested bits.
Several soundbites of Erik include:

- "I don't know!"
- "I love the garlic butter sau..."
There are also soundbites of Erik spanking a listener (followed by the listener's cry of pain), of Erik screaming while getting waxed, of Erik slurping up water, and of Erik screaming until he runs out of air.
Erik recently got engaged, which was teased on the September 4, 2007 show and revealed by Opie before The Line of the Day. The official announcement came the following day, but was quickly overshadowed by Opie's own engagement announcement.
The month of October, 2007, was dubbed E-Rocktober in honor of Erik.
Erik also nearly died while attempting to perform the Cinnamon Challenge.
After witnessing three car accidents (at least one of which resulted in someone's death), Erik was nicknamed the Angel of Death.
Erik (along with Sam) is a huge wrestling fan.
Notable Moments
Vs. Justine Joli
- 08/17/2007 (XM) - Erik was talked into spanking adult film star Justine Joli after she confessed she enjoyed it. The Smack Heard 'Round The World left a bruise on her bippy in the shape of a palm print that lasted over three days; she had a pictorial shooting that afternoon. Erik and Justine got into a scathing battle of name-calling. To smooth over the uncomfortable atmosphere, Opie suggested Erik lick mayonnaise off her toes. Erik's fiancee got wind of this and forbade him to even look at that effin whore again.
- 10/31/2007 (XM) - Justine returns and continues her verbal tirade against the fat fuck and proceeds to taunt him by striping completely naked and sitting next to him on the couch. Opie suggests E-Rock call his fiancee to inform her of this new development (all the while, keeping his eyes diverted). In a matter of moments, the bit turns real and Erik leaves the studio, only to return an hour later after trying to smooth things over.
