Satellite Radio is a medium of radio that is broadcast across the United States, Canada, Asia, Europe, and Africa through satellites in space. XM and Sirius were the only satellite radio companies currently broadcasting in North America, and eventually merged into a single company. Worldspace Satellite Radio broadcasts to the eastern hemisphere on multiple continents. XM and SIRIUS satellite radio are now available in Canada.

Opie and Anthony did ads for satellite radio during their time on WNEW. They saw the future of this new medium then, and thought it was stupid for their bosses to take money for ads for what was essentially competition. Howard Stern also did ads for XM - until he signed a deal with competitor Sirius. Eventually, terrestrial radio stations started doing anti-satellite radio ads when they realized that satellite radio was a threat to their business. O&A soon became the first radio show to simulcast their satellite show on terrestrial radio (up until that time, terrestrial radio shows typically had their shows aired on satellite, but not vice versa). Their show aired on terrestrial radio from 2006-2009.
