Sex for Sam 3
From OAPedia.com
Sex for Sam 3 was the final Sex for Sam contest and the bit that ended The Opie and Anthony Show on WNEW. The contest took place on August 15, 2002, and as part of the contest that year, a church was jokingly listed as one of the locations where couples could have sex in public. This led to a couple (allegedly) having sex in St. Patrick's Cathedral, as reported by their spotter, Paul Mercurio. O&A went to Paul's call where he said, "We're in St. Pat's, and he's doing the balloon knot." Paul was advised by O&A to get the couple out of there but Paul wouldn't listen. Eventually, police were called and arrested the couple. It's possible that if Paul had gotten the couple out of there immediately, there wouldn't have been as much of a public outrage. Instead, the incident led to nationwide coverage, and eventually William Donohue, President of the Catholic League, contacted the FCC and asked that they revoke WNEW's broadcasting license and fine Infinity Broadcasting.
The following day, the final Opie and Anthony Show was broadcast from WNEW. Due to lawyers not wanting them to mention SFS3, the duo referred to the previous day's cluster-fuck as the "Peanut Butter & Jelly Incident". Their last guest on said show was Brian Regan, and Opie, Anthony, and Jim Norton each ended the show by saying "Your mom's box". The following week, reruns of the show were aired until it was announced on August 22, 2002 that The Opie and Anthony Show had been cancelled.
Because of a "No Compete" clause in O&A's contract, the show did not return to the air until October 4, 2004 on XM Radio.
