Opie and Anthony Animation Festival
From OAPedia.com
The Opie and Anthony Animation Festival took place on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the Roseland Ballroom in New York. It was a contest O&A held for their listeners to submit animations of some of their best bits. The contest was started because of O&A's disappointment over a station-sponsored animation contest which did not give people enough time to submit really fantastic entries (although the entries received were good in and of themselves). O&A decided to rectify the situation and hold the contest right, by giving a big cash prize and holding it in a really nice venue.
The winner of the contest was the video that opened the festival - a Western-themed animation done to "The Ecstasy of Gold". Following the contest, O&A were annoyed by the fact that the videos were not immediately made available online so fans could check them out. Apparently, the issue was due to copyrighted material (such as music) used in the animations. Despite this, O&A thought the festival was a success, and wanted to hold another one in the near future.
