George Steinbrenner was the legendary owner of the New York Yankees baseball team. On July 13, 2010 an Opie and Anthony listener named RC sent an instant feedback reporting Steinbrenner's death even though there were no news reports about his death at the time. O&A went with the story anyway, and soon O&A listeners were spreading the story on Twitter. Eventually news reports surfaced about Steinbrenner being hospitalized, then that he had a heart attack, and eventually that he was indeed dead. O&A succeeded in breaking the story before anyone else.
