The Eggnog Drinking Contest is an annual contest on The Opie and Anthony Show where contestants had to drink double-shots of eggnog. Whoever drank the most eggnog without throwing up won. The first Eggnog Drinking Contest took place on Friday, December 17, 2004, with the winner going home with a MyFi. The winner was Pat from Moonachie, who was in such good shape (figuratively) at the end of the contest that he continued to drink eggnog. He ended up drinking twice as many double-shots as the runner-up. Opie and Anthony finally made him give up, and because of his diabetes, he had to vomit right after finishing.
The Second Annual Eggnog Drinking Contest took place on Friday, December 2nd, 2005. This time reigning champion Pat from Moonachie had more competition from a bunch of tools who were trying to take the title. The only contestant who even had a chance was Eric "Badlands" Booker, a competitive eater in the I.F.O.C.E. The other contestants dropped like flies, while Pat and Eric were gullet-and-gullet. They eventually made it all the way to Pat's old record (70 double shots), but Pat couldn't take anymore, and he threw up. A few seconds later Eric threw up as well, unable to break the record of 70, but still managing to defeat Pat, and be named the Eggnog Drinking Champion of 2005.
The Third Annual Eggnog Drinking Contest took place on Friday, December 1st, 2006, and is now legendary. Pat Duffy, a contestant who wanted to intern for the show, got eliminated early on and gave the show some of the best vomiting noises ever heard, prompting Opie to offer him internship. Another contestant, Sgt. Magoo, vomited his eggnog into a pitcher and poured it onto some Froot Loops, and proceeded to eat it. Pat Duffy then drank the vomit out of the pitcher. All throughout the show, E-Rock repeatedly vomited because of what was going on. Finally, Pat From Moonachie, who ended up winning the contest after drinking a record 75 double shots of eggnog, performed The Baby Bird with Pat Duffy, vomiting the eggnog into Pat Duffy's mouth. Joe Rogan, who came up with the Baby Bird idea, called it the greatest moment in the history of radio.
Opie and Anthony attempted to have a fourth Eggnog Drinking Contest in 2007, but due to the death of a contestant in the Hold Your Wee for a Wii contest by another radio station, there were fears that something similar might happen during the Eggnog Drinking Contest, and it was called off.
