Don Imus is a famous radio DJ and a big fan of Opie and Anthony. He often brings up O&A on his radio show as well as several show-related references, including referring to Opie as his possible son. Anthony also does a spot-on impression of him.

In 2007, Opie and Anthony supported Imus when he came under fire for using the term "nappy-headed hos" to describe the Rutgers University Women's Basketball Team, saying the comment came off as a joke in context and not as a horrid racial slur like the media was portraying it to be. They believed it was hypocritical for black "leaders" such as Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to condemn Imus when they've said and done much more inflammatory things throughout their careers, and also for not condemning other blacks who have done and said much worse. They also condemned the media for paying little or no attention to these facts when discussing the issue, and for sensationalizing the story and making it much bigger than it should have been. He was fired by MSNBC on April 11, 2007, and by CBS Radio on April 12, 2007.

Recently, Imus settled a lawsuit with CBS over the firing and returned to radio on December 3, 2007, on WABC in New York. Opie and Anthony were guests on his first day back.
